Airport Transfers from Wolverhampton: Journey Times and Prices

Wolverhampton sits slightly further west than Walsall, which changes the picture more than you would expect. Birmingham Airport takes a little longer, Manchester is marginally quicker, and the route options are genuinely different because of where the motorway junctions fall.

Wolverhampton to Birmingham Airport

Around 25 miles and typically 40 to 50 minutes. That is longer than the equivalent Walsall run because you are crossing more of the conurbation to get there.

The M6 route via Junction 10 is standard. In heavy traffic the M54 to M6 Toll option can be quicker despite looking longer on a map, and drivers who work this patch regularly will make that call without being asked.

Prices start from around £42 for a standard saloon, rising with vehicle size.

Wolverhampton to Manchester Airport

Roughly 70 miles, generally 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 50. Wolverhampton has a small advantage here because you join the M6 further north, cutting out part of the busiest section.

Expect from around £125 for a standard saloon.

Wolverhampton to East Midlands

Around 55 miles via the M6 and A50, usually 55 minutes to 1 hour 10. From around £80.

East Midlands is underused by West Midlands travellers. For certain budget routes and package holidays it flies where Birmingham does not, and the journey is not much worse.

Local timing note

The Wolverhampton ring road and the approach to the M6 at Junction 10 both slow considerably through the morning peak. On a weekday departure between 7am and 9.30am, add 20 minutes to any of the times above.

A week of notice is comfortable for most journeys. Through the summer holidays and around Christmas, give it two weeks, particularly for six and eight seat vehicles where availability is genuinely limited.
